Here Are Three Simple Tips to Keep Your Mattress Clean and Well-Kept

A lot of people tend to take this for granted, but your mattress is actually one of the most important items in your room. It’s your mattress that you come in direct contact with when you lay down for a well-deserved rest after a long day.

It’s important that you have a comfortable mattress to sleep on so that you can get a full night’s rest while also making sure that your body is relaxed. To care for it, though, does not only mean changing the sheets every week. Here are some more tips that can help you better take care of  your mattresses in San Diego or elsewhere so that they will last longer.

Avoid Dry Cleaning

Contrary to popular belief, dry cleaning your mattress is not a good idea at all. It may be effective at taking out the tough stains, but the strength of the cleaning agents definitely compromise the quality of the mattress materials underneath. The chemicals can shorten the lifespan of the mattress and affect the quality of your sleep.

If you must take out a stain, try the good, old method of washing the area with mild soap and cold weather. Be careful not to soak the mattress, though. Other than that, vacuuming is the only other safe method for cleaning your mattress.

Turn Your Mattress

This may sound like an odd tip, especially for those who are only hearing of this now. This advice actually aims to give your mattress an even distribution of wear. Ideally, you should turn your mattress up to four times a year.

While you’re at it, this should also be the best time for you to vacuum your mattress and box springs.

Air It Out

In case you’ll be out of town for a while, strip your bed so you can air it out. You being on vacation means that your bed will also have a vacation by not being used. This ought to be the best opportunity for you to get your mattress aired out.

Although you do change your sheets regularly, it’s still not the same as being able to remove the mattress from the frame itself and aired outside. Hopefully this would also be good for keeping your mattress clean and safe from bedbugs and other insects.

In case you want to replace your mattress upon your return from your vacation, you can turn to shops like Mattress Sale Liquidators.
